Dr. Okereke provides part-time patient care as a neuropsychiatrist at the Behavioral Neurology Clinic  of the Brigham and Women's Hospital, where she has an appointment in the Department of Psychiatry.

From 2007-2008, Dr. Okereke conducted a pilot grant from the Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center (www.neurodiscovery.harvard.edu ) for the development of a streamlined instrument for the identification of decline along the mild end of the spectrum of cognitive impairment in older persons - a "pre-clinical" phase likely most amendable to prevention or early intervention in dementia. The project involved the selection of high-sensitivity items for the detection of mild cognitive change and the development of a brief, structured questionnaire that is utilized among research participants of the Massachusetts ADRC.
Apart from clinical activities at the Massachusetts ADRC and the above-mentioned research project, Dr. Okereke is also the Principal Investigator of a K08 (Career Development Award) from the National Institute on Aging (www.nia.nih.gov ). This grant focuses on the relation of dietary factors, novel diet-related biomarkers and prospective cognitive function in a cohort of over six-thousand older women. In addition, Dr. Okereke is involved in work on plasma amyloid-beta assays -- analyzing their performance characteristics and association with cognitive outcomes.
