Dr. Marquie-Sayagues received her Medical Degree at the University of Barcelona Medical School in Spain (1997-2003) and compled the Residency Training Program in Neurology at the Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona (2004-2008). She is currently enrolled in a PhD Program in Internal Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Dr. Marquie-Sayagues received her postgraduate clinical training at the Memory Disorder Unit at Hospital Sant Pau (2008-2010), where she specialized in the diagnosis and management of dementia and other cognitive disorders. In 2010 Dr. Marquie-Sayagues joined the the Massachusetts General Hospital as a Research fellow. She conducted her research at the Movement Disorders Unit and at the MassGeneral Institute for NeuroDegenerative Disease. In July 2015 Dr. Marquie-Sayagues joined the Memory Disorders Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital as a Clinical Fellow, where she combines clinical duties with basic and translational research.
The central theme of Dr. Marquie-Sayagues’ research is the postmortem validation of novel PET compounds for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders. Specifically, Dr. Marquie-Sayagues analyzes Pittsburgh Compound B, AV-1451 (T807) and Altropane in Alzheimer´s disease, dementia with Lewy body and other neurodegenerative disorders both with in vivo PET imaging and postmortem human brain tissue from autopsies.
