The Massachusetts ADRC actively supports the historic "coast to capital" ride to raise public awareness and federal funds to help conquer Alzheimer's disease.
From July 15, 2010 - September 21, 2010, researchers will travel through 24 ride-segments from California to the nation's capital to deliver at least 50,000 signatures to Congress, in support of the Alzheimer's Breakthrough Act , which calls for $2 billion for funding in Alzheimer's research at the National Institutes of Health.
The state of Massachusetts has a team called "Boston Bikers" riding 98 miles from St. Louis, MO, to Springfield, IL, on August 28, 2010, and team members include Drs. Cynthia Lemere (Team Leader), Sarah Matousek and Oliver Holmes from the Brigham and Women's Hospital's Center for Neurologic Diseases, and Stephanie Socia from the Massachusetts General Hospital's Center for Aging and Genetics.
We encourage everyone to sign the online petition to ask Congress to support the Breakthrough Act for more funding for Alzheimer's disease research and care, and donations to the "Boston Bikers" or its individual team members would be most appreciated.
