Telephone: (617) 726-0728

I did my medical degree at the University of Malaga Medical School in Malaga (Spain) and my residency in neurology at the University Hospital Virgen del Rocio in Seville (Spain). After becoming a neurologist, I was granted a research fellowship from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III of the Ministerio Espana de Ciencia e Innovacion to conduct basic and clinical research on the dementias.

Clinical and basic research on the dementias and in particular, Alzheimer's disease (AD). My major interests are the physiological and pathological roles of amyloid-beta peptide, the molecular links between amyloid and tau pathologies, and the mechanisms of neuronal death in AD. Also, I am interested in the interactions between different pathologies in mixed dementias, particularly between ischemia and Alzheimer's disease, and between dementia with lewy bodies and Alzheimer's disease.
